Huge demand for tickets is forcing
Seville's 2008 Festival Bienal de Flamenco to extend the
program. With just a month to go until the start of the
festival, the organization announced that Farruquito's
show ‘Puro’ is added to the bill. The performance
will be on 12th September at the Rocío Jurado Auditorium.
The shows ‘Carmen’ by Sara Baras, ‘El
cielo de tu boca’ by Andrés Marín
and ‘Vamos al tiroteo’ by Rafaela Carrasco
will also play an extra night. And in addition, it’s
been confirmed that the festival will close with Enrique
Morente's show ‘Flashback’. Tickets for these
new performances go on sale on 7th August.

'Puro'
The return of Farruquito after a spell
in prison will take place at the 2008 Festival Bienal
de Flamenco de Sevilla. Seville's legendary festival added
the show ‘Puro’, premièred by the bailaor
on 24th July in Palma de Mallorca. The performance is
scheduled for 12th September at the Rocío Jurado
Auditorium, a venue which will also host the concerts
‘Dulce Estrella’ by Estrella
Morente and Dulce Pontes, and the tribute to Andalusian
rock ‘Rock & flamenco’. The production,
according to the program, is “a journey to the roots
of flamenco”.

Faced with massive demand for tickets,
the festival has decided to extend the run of three shows.
‘Carmen’ by Sara Baras will also be shown
on 21st September at Teatro Maestranza, in addition to
the two previous days which are already sold out. The
same is true of ‘El cielo de tu boca’ byAndrés
Marín which will play an extra night on 23rd
September at Teatro Central, the day after it opens. The
project is one of the most daring on the program, a conceptual
production that revolves around the sounds and meanings
of the bell, featuring experimental musician Llorenç
Barber.
‘Vamos al tiroteo’ by Seville-born
bailaora Rafaela Carrasco will also be shown twice. In
addition to the première on 6th October at Teatro
Central, an extra show is added the following night. The
show is a choreographic and musical re-interpretation
of the popular songs recorded by Lorca and La Argentinita
in 1931. The tickets for all these new shows go on sale
on 7th August online,
by phone and at the ticket office.
New details have also been revealed about
the Gran Finale. On 11th October Granada-born cantaor
Enrique Morente will round off the proceedings at Seville's
fifteenth Festival Bienal de Flamenco in style, with his
show ‘Flashback’. The production, described
as “a sudden, rapid return to the past” will
be shown at Teatro de la Maestranza.
