2008 De Cajón! Flamenco Festival. Show schedule

The flamenco offer in Barcelona hasn’t let up. With the Festival de Ciutat Vella and the Nou Barris Flamenco Festival practically having just finished, and still with some shows pending in the Guitar Festival, the city will propose another jondo bill. The 2008 De Cajón Flamenco Festival, the event’s third edition, is scheduled from May 29th to July 6th. The main events on the bill are performances by Vicente Amigo, Tomatito and Diego el Cigala, besides the presentation of the album ‘Barcas de plata’ by Encarna Anillo with Miguel Poveda as host. Bailaor Juan de Juan and cantaor Guillermo Cano also appear at an event which will be closed by singer Rosario.

The 2008 De Cajón! Flamenco Festival reaches its third edition, with a lineup that summarizes its main goals. The first is “to go on increasing the possibilities of the city as an unavoidable venue amidst the great figures, the gods of duende”. And the stage of the Palau de la Música is reserved for them. Vicente Amigo’s guitar will open the festival, which will make way for the concert ‘Dos lágrimas’ by Diego el Cigala a few days later. Tomatito will star on toque in the final stretch of the festival.

Another objective is to make way for already consolidated young talents. That’s the case of Encarna Anillo, who presents her album ‘Barcas de plata’ in Barcelona with Miguel Poveda as guest artist. The Catalan cantaor, the record’s executive producer, will play host to the Cádiz-born cantaora in the city in a recital in which the guitar will be taken care of by Chicuelo. And also that of bailaor Juan de Juan; that of cantaor Guillermo Cano, presenting his album ‘Rincón del pensamiento’; and that of the Catalan group Las Migas. The festival’s final touch, which includes a box drum contest and master classes, will be taken care of by singer Rosario Flores at the Liceu.
