Jerez exports flamenco zambomba. Moraíto, Diego Carrasco, Fernando Terremoto, Fernando de la Morena, El Mono, Diego del Morao, Bo... were just a few of the handful of Jerez-born artists who gathered at Madrid's very Plaza Mayor (Main Square) on the cold night of December 15th, 2005 to make known their way of understanding flamenco at Christmas. They sang, danced and played Christmas carols through bulerías, to the sound of the zambomba and the choruses of the Fernando Terremoto Peña, just like last Saturday at the Teatro Villamarta in Jerez. By means of good art and even better cheer, they got round not only the low temperatures, but also the precarious facilities prepared by the sponsor of the act, within the framework of the twinning between the quarters of Santiago and San Miguel in Jerez with those of Chamberí and downtown Madrid. May it be repeated at Christmases to come, but in good conditions.
