Seville’s Teatro de la
Maestranza oozes flamenco. The main Sevillian venue, devoted
to programming opera and symphony orchestras, not only
dedicates an exclusive section to the jondo art, but also
includes it on other bills such as that of ‘Grandes
intérpretes’ (‘Great Performers’),
where on October 23rd, Diego
el Cigala presents ‘Dos lágrimas’
conversing with Sonny Rolling and Milton Nascimiento;
and that of ‘Danza’ (‘Dance’),
which includes the Antonio Gades Company with the mythical
show ‘Carmen’ on June 3rd. The ‘Flamenco’
series, which is to be held from October 29th to December
10th, offers the show ‘Sin frontera’ by Miguel
Poveda, ‘Cádiz’, ‘Zambra 5.1’
by Arcángel; and ‘Homenaje a Sabicas’
by Gerardo Núñez.
