The Netherlands holds its first
flamenco festival
with Israel Galván, Cañizares and Duquende
The bienal is to be held in Amsterdam and
Utrecht from November 9th to 12th, 2006

Holland joins the international
flamenco circuit. From November 9th to 12th, 2006 the first
edition of the Netherlands' Bienal de Flamenco sees the
light. The festival will simultaneously hold a program between
Amsterdam and Utrecht over four days highlighted by ‘La
edad de oro’ by Israel Galván, ‘Qawwali
jondo’ by Duquende
& Faiz Ali Faiz and the presentation of the album
‘Sin precedentes’ by the trio consisting of
Carles Benavent, Jorge Pardo and Tino di Geraldo, among
other performances. Joining live flamenco are related activities
such as lectures, workshops, films and a literary program
in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute of Utrecht.
The new flamenco event is organized by the PerpetuumM Foundation
of Amsterdam and the Centre of World Cultures RASA of Utrecht.
